Berkel Midwest Sales & Service, Inc. is a corporation formed to take over three existing branch operations from Berkel Incorporated. Berkel Incorporated had thirty-three (33) branch operations in the United States which were engaged in service & sales. Berkel Incorporated had terminated its branch operations and sold them to interested parties and / or existing distributors of their products.
Effective January 1, 1997 Thomas V. Floyd, Vice President of Field Operations of Berkel Incorporated, with almost 20) years with the company and Jesse Chavez, National Service Manager of Berkel Incorporated, with over (17) years with the company teamed up to take advantage of the opportunity of acquiring certain branches.
The new company, Berkel Midwest Sales & Service, Inc. acquired the existing Berkel offices in Chicago, St. Louis, and Minneapolis. In December 1997 Chris Douglas, a former Berkel Incorporated employee, was hired as the Berkel Midwest Sales Manager. Chris was employed with Berkel Incorporated for (8) years, his last position was as the Midwest Regional Manager. Because of Chris’ work ethics and dedication to the company, as of January 2012, he has been promoted to Vice President of Sales.
In December 1997 Berkel Midwest opened its 4th branch in Milwaukee Wisconsin, and in 2013, its 5th in South Bend Indiana.
In continuing to provide our customers with benchmark sales and service dependability in the Electronic Weighing Scale Field we have added to our team our latest employee Ken Moss. Ken, also was a former employee of Berkel for over (20) years. Kens responsibilities with knowledge in electronic scales, networking, and computers, has become another valued asset to our growing company.
In an effort to “further expand our business in Chicago; in 2005 Berkel Midwest had acquired the food equipment repair business from "Cozzini Brothers, Inc.”, the largest "knife service" company in the Chicago-land area.

Effective Jan 2012,Tom Floyd Sr. Former President of Berkel Midwest has now retired and relinquished his shares of the company to Tom Floyd Jr. With this change Jesse Chavez, then VP of Berkel Midwest has now moved into the position of President, and, Tom Jr. is now the Vice President.
Ed Chavez has assumed the position of Branch Service Manager of the Alsip/Chicago Corporate Office and Rick Castrogiovanni has moved to a much needed position as Parts Manager. We wish Tom Sr. a happy & healthy retirement and he will still be part of the Management Staff and will now assume the position of Chairman, and, our mentor.
