Berkel Midwest Sales & Service, Inc. is a corporation formed to take over three existing branch operations from Berkel Incorporated. Berkel Incorporated had thirty-three (33) branch operations in the United States which were engaged in service & sales. Berkel Incorporated had terminated its branch operations and sold them to interested parties and / or existing distributors of their products. Effective January 1, 1997 Thomas V. Floyd, Vice President of Field Operations of Berkel Incorporated, with almost 20 years with the company and Jesse Chavez, National Service Manager of Berkel Incorporated, with over 17 years with the company teamed up to take advantage of the opportunity of acquiring certain branches.

Following the initial acquisition of the Chicago, Minneapolis and St Louis branches, Berkel Midwest has grown to include operations in Wisconsin, Laporte and Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as a satellite office in Decatur, Illinois. With these acquisitions, Berkel Midwest is able to provide service for the entire state of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, as well as much of the state of Missouri, parts of Iowa and lower Michigan and the U.P.

 

Today, Berkel Midwest continues to be a family-owned shop. The owners, Tom Floyd Jr and Eddie Chavez are both long time employees, who after learning the ins and outs of each department in the business, took advantage of the opportunity to buy out their fathers. In January 2012, when Tom Sr was ready to retire, Tom Jr, now President, took over and when Jesse was ready to retire in October 2019, Ed, now Vice President, took over for Jesse. Both started with Berkel Midwest in early 1999 and have a combined 48 years in the business.

All company management have many years of experience. Worth noting are Chris Douglas, V.P. of Sales, who joined Berkel Midwest shortly after they opened their doors in late 1997 and also had a decade of experience with Berkel Incorporated. Jacob Mraz, the St Louis Branch Manager has been part of the team since 2019. Scott Stodolka, the Minneapolis Branch Manager, has been part of the team since 1997 and had more than a decade with Berkel Incorporated. Andy Henschel, the Lead tech in Wisconsin has been with the business since 1998. Oscar Rodriguez, Service Manager in Alsip, has been with the company since 2005. Rick Castrogiovanni, the Chicago Branch Manager and companywide Parts Manger joined us way back in 1998 and Charlene vail, our Office Manager, has been with us since 1997.

Our service, sales and support team have combined for over 400 years worth of experience in the industry, nearly all of which has been with Berkel Midwest.
